We are so pleased to share some favorite images from our featured photographer, Shonagh Stockdale of Gray Dot Photography. Shonagh was the winner of our monthly theme for April so along with being featured she will be guest judging one of our weekly themes.
We asked Shonagh what inspires her to pick up her camera and start shooting?
"The outdoors is where it’s at for me! Pre children I started my photography career as a landscape photographer. I was inspired by the diversity of natural landscapes, which provide an endless variety of compositions, lines and ideas to draw from. This really hasn’t changed but now I have two lively (well one very lively, one melancholy) subjects that just add to the scene for me. I am definitely drawn to light and movement and love to incorporate these things in my images if I can, children obviously add to the movement aspect!
My own childhood was so rich with imagination, play and the outdoors that when I see these things coming together in my children’s lives I just want to capture it in time forever. I know how quickly these phases change and so documenting my children’s little idiosyncrasies and quirks is so important.
I then want to take all these elements and turn them into an art piece."
Now for some beautiful images <3
